Babies, holidays and no more man-cave?!?!

Ello,

I know, I know.  I've been away for awhile.   Yes, it was me being lazy.

Lets get right down to it.  Happy Holidays!   The wifie and I put up our decorations this past Sunday.  Everything is looking festive and nice but the wifie insists that something is missing.  *Shrugs*  I think the place looks good.

Also, a few of my favorite ornaments.

The next baby appointment is soon.  We are suppose to be able to determine the sex of our creation on this visit.  Very excited.  As soon as we get the info we can really get down to getting all the stuff the baby is going to need and getting the baby's room ready.  Which... means... I'm loosing the man-cave.  It's not really just the man-cave.  The wifie has her desk and stuff in here to, but my desk... my little corner of geek-dom that I"ve build is moving out into the living/dining room.  Which also means that "most" of my "collection" will have to be boxed up.  Not ALL of it.  Just most of it.  Sigh.  It's only temporary, but I like my stuff and I wanted to add to it.  It's for the baby so I'm giving it up with a smile.  The man-cave will return!!!

The figures are going on hiatus for awhile also.  Which really kinda sucks cause I've seen a few that I've really wanted drop in price these last few days.  I'm really tempted to buy them but I'm being a good boy and holding out.   I just hope that when I do return that I'll they'll still be available.

Also, going to try to get the feed back up and working.   I'm going to do it manually for right now and that might stay that way for a bit longer, but I want to start doing the mobile blog on the road and on locations to the events and shoots that I've been helping David with.  It's been fun and I'm learning a lot.  Also in the future... my very first DSLR?   :)   Stay tuned!

It's alive! Baby Dorsey makes his/her first appearance.

Yes, my army of neo-geeks has begun!

World, the baby.  The baby...meet the world.   You'll like it here.

Neglecting...

Yeah, I know.  I've been ignoring my blog duties lately.  My apologies.  With me still swimming in the news that I'm going to be a daddy my mind has been a flutter of future plans, toy ideas, remodeling and baby names.  On top of that I've been at my parents helping with a garage sale.  I think I have more stuff selling there then they do.  If I can unload the rest of it tomorrow that will allow me to get a new haul!  Not a big one, just one or two things.  Plus I want to get the wifie a few stocking stuffers. :)  I should be back to the grind here shortly.

Stay tuned!

Going to be a....daddy!

Seems this is the only place I haven't updated about my upcoming fatherhood.  Yep.  Going to be a daddy.

Wow.

Lazy weekend...

Yo.   Enjoying Muramasa.  It truly is a great game.  I've been doing a little backtracking just to revisit some of the gorgeous scenery and backdrops.  Great artwork!

I've been playing around with my rss feed options but somehow it's not doing what I want it to do.  I wanted it to post a small note on my Facebook basically just to say, "Hey, there's a new post." , but so far it simply wants to post EVERYTHING!  I'm even playing around with Feedburner, but it still isn't posting right on Facebook.  I guess I'll have to do a little more research otherwise I'll have to do it manually for right now.  Anyone have any suggestions?

It's a beautiful day outside and I want to go out, but I have nothing to do.  I do want to go look for a new camera, but I'm feeling all 'meh' and just want to play games today.  Maybe tomorrow.

Updates...

Moving stuff around on the blog.   Added a few more interesting reads on the blog list.  (Thanks for the comments!)  I've also made a flickr account.  I've been using Photobucket and it's still a nice service, but with flickr I can upload from my iPhone and do a couple of other interesting things which were added to the blog as well.  Also added the feed.   One other noteworthy thing, but I'm going to keep that on the DL for right now.  :)

Muramasa: The Demon Blade...

I've been hanging onto a GameStop gift card that I've had since Christmas.  This is what I'll be getting.  I'm happy that 2D isn't dead and titles like this can showcase just how beautiful and 2D game on today's consoles.

I should pick up a classic controller as well... :)

I'm back!

Hey everyone. Sorry for all the down time. I'm back and fully recovered from the flu. Swine or otherwise. Actually, that is the one question that everyone asked. "Is it swine?" I just ended up saying it was so everyone would leave me alone! Haha!

Anyways, it's back to the daily grind. First off, my package did come. Actually, it came the very next day from the post I made. It is also a special package because it is my very first purchase from ToysLogic. Overall, my first experience with ToysLogic was a good one. Smooth transaction. The only thing that I would change is the shipping, which is no fault of ToysLogic. USPS is 'ok' but I'm use to getting packages sooner so next time I'll opt for the faster shipping.

So, what did I get?!?!?!

Pocco!!!

Revoltech Fraulein series Pocco which is from an illustration done by Shunya Yamashita.   This is also my first Revoltech figure.  I've been wanting a few Revoltech figures since I first laid eyes on them over a year ago.  Most notably; Optimus Prime, but it seems you can't find them anywhere except a few Ebay auctions and they want... well, a lot for them.   Being a Shunya fan and ToysLogic having put Pocco on sale I grabbed her up!

Once I gave Pocco a thorough examination ;) I found that although the detail and craftsmanship is there, but I'm not so thrilled with the construction.  Particularly,  her shoulders.  As soon as I removed her from her packaging both arms fell off at the shoulders.  Upon replacing them back into their sockets I found that they don't sit as flush as they should.  Whether this is a design flaw in this figure, or a problem with the ball/socket joint that Revoltech is known for I can't quite say.  This is my first Revoltech so Pocco is teaching me a lot of things about Revoltech.  I'd also think she would be better if she was the next scale up.  Just slightly larger.  That also may help with the shoulder problem.

Besides her shoulders, Pocco is a beautiful figure.  Right now her and Hellboy are hanging out and compairing swords. :D   Will this be my only Revoltech or will I continue?   Not sure.  Maybe I should check out some of the Figma figures and do a little comparing.

Moving on there have been a lot of things happening lately that I wanted to comment on.  First off.... Disney is buying Marvel?  WTF!  I thought Marvel was doing better then ever with all the successful movies and comics themselves seemed to be enjoying a resurgence even though my local comic shop closed their doors. (We miss you Mega!)   What will we see in the future with a Disney/Marvel powerhouse?  Does this mean that the Islands of Adventure themepark is near its end?   Will we be seeing Marvel vs. Disney games?   AHHH!!  What does it all mean!!!

There's so much more but I'll try to keep my sanity for this post.    See you soon!

No packages today...

Which is sad because I was actually expecting one. A small purchase from an online retailer that I've been debating whether to buy from or not. They had an item in-stock and with only a few left I decided to get one. Order was placed on the 15th, my account said it was ready to ship on the 17th and got an update saying it didn't ship out until the 21st! A little disappointing but I'm not passing judgment just yet as I do plan to make additional purchases at this site soon. Maybe spend the few extra dollars for UPS next time? Maybe.

Sins of a Solar Empire...

Yes, I know. I'm always late to the game. Anyways. I've heard/read/seen this game since it came out. I finally decided to pick it up and try my hand out at conquering the universe. It's a spectacular game. The scenery is beautiful and the epic space-battles are... epic! If you're a fan of any kind of strategy game give Sins a look.

I'll have to post a pic of one of the capital ships!

Figures...

Hello again,

As per my last few posts I've added a few recent additions. Although, I'm without a decent camera at the moment I did take a few extra pictures and I'd like to share.

First up; Non-Non. Based on the illustrations of Shunya Yamashita. This 1/8 figure by Yamato is by far my favorite. I've been a "collector" for some time and only recently expanded into the realm of Japanese figures. When I first saw this I said that I had to have it. When I heard the name Shunya Yamashita I knew I've seen it before. A quick wiki and google search gave me some great info and I instantly became a fan of his work. (Although, I still haven't gotten any of his books.) I wish to expand my figure collection with more figures based off his work. I think these will be the central part of my figure collection.

Again, I apologize for the poor quality of the photographs. I hope to correct that soon.

Back to Non-Non. This is a superb figure. With a great amount of detail and an almost flawless paint job. There are a few areas where the paint goes beyond the intended point, but it's only noticeable at very close views. Still, the pose and overall workmanship is quite stunning.

The next figure is Fuka Ayase from the comic Yotsuba&! This 1/8 figure is by Kaiyoko. As I mentioned in the post when I got her. I won her in a contest at Mania.com. I enter all their contests in the hopes of winning. Although, I can't call myself a fan of the manga it was a nice surprise to actually win a figure. She's really well sculpted with a nice attention to detail.

She's a welcome addition to the collection.

Anyways, so thats it for my FIRST figure review. I know they'll get better once I get into the swing of things.

I won!

Hey gang,

As you know I recommend Mania to everyone. I actually interact mostly with Mania through their iPhone app. I love having news of my type at my fingertips all the time.

Anyways, they have contests to win figures and behold... I won!

Fuka Ayase from Yotsuba!

I don't read it but I guess this can give me a great excuse to start! I'll have a pic up shortly.

Thanks Mania!

New toy...

Ello!

Some new things. First, my newest addition. She's so pretty. :)

Shunya Yamashita's Non Non by Yamato. She is my favorite and had to have her when I first saw it. Going to do a review. :) Thanks to Shlane for the B-Day present!

Also made an addition to my DeviantArt page. I wish I could put more up but the lack of drive lately has been depressing. Maybe with this new job I can find the inspiration to get my own stuff done now.

Check back soon!

Getting all my evil ducks in a row...

Tomorrow could be a very productive day... or... it could be a disaster. Of course I'm hoping for the productive way. As you can see, I have all my evil ducks in a row. Mwahahaha!

I'll follow up as soon as I know.

Wish me luck.

I'm back...

Hey everyone..or.. one... lol.

Sorry for the absence. A lot has happened in the last week. I'm going to take a cue from a friend and call this a "new chapter" that I've begun.

Really isn't much to say about it. I prefer to move on and look to the future.

So, whats going on? SDCC is going on! One day I hope to be there. Just to take in all the elite awesomeness of the show.

In other news I need a new camera. I don't need some big DLSR or anything extravagant. Just a nice point-n-shoot. Going to the store and browsing is nice and all but recommendations would be nicer. :)

Ok, Ok.. promise. I'll be back to normal soon.

Back to important things...

First off, lets all welcome JT to the wonderful world of the iPhone. We're all happy to the new addition to his family.

There's not a whole lot slated for this week. Harry Potter opens up this wednesday and it will probably be a weekend view for the wifie and me. Actually, we may be doing a "group" viewing.

Since the WoW days have ended I've been playing a lot of CS:S lately. If you don't know thats Counter-Strike: Source. I've been logging quite a number of hours on Steam and I have to say that I do see myself improving back to my previous level. I feel like I'm back scriming in my CAL days. Ahh, memories.

Speaking of games... me and the world are waiting for Starcraft 2. I actually re-installed the original just to brush up on my zerg rushes. Ok, I prefer Terran... but I don't think my strats will work in SC2. Why does everyone hate the turtler?

Grocery shopping and something for dinner tonight... Something thats available at Publix. Hmmm....

Adding to the "General Knowledge" base...

I don't often complain about my job. I do complain about the JOB, but... let me clarify. I don't complain about the work. I love what I do, but there are times when I'm handed a project and my manager tells me that the customer has sent everything he/she/they want and all I have to do it put it together. Makes my life just a little bit easier and I look forward to whipping out a 5 minute job. Case in point. Above are 4 pictures that a customer has sent me for "reference." Normally, I don't mind this. It's much easier when the customer knows what they want. However, this one... they didn't. With what I think they want and with the "sort-of" direction the customer gave me we arrive 5 proofs later to what the customer wants. 5. They've gone up to 20 before. I think we had to enact a new company wide policy that if it reaches 10 then we ask for them to provide us with a finalized design.

So, where am I going with this?

What I do isn't rocket science and I know EVERYONE has seen an embroidered patch sometime in their life to know what people talk about when they talk about patches. It really doesn't get much simpler in terms when you break it down to needle and thread, but lately I've been diving into projects that this simple way of explaining what we can and can not do is lost. So, I'm trying to find a way to add this to the General Knowledge base. You know. The stuff that everybody knows just because. It's general knowledge that red means stop or hot, and blue usually represents cold. I want to add if you can see your design and interpret it as needle and thread then it will probably work.

Ok, so maybe I'm asking for a lot, but when you compair it to the stuff thats passed off as general knowledge today maybe not. When you order Hot coffee at McDonalds they now need to put on the cup. Caution: Hot. May lead to injuries if spilled on. Oh noes! You mean this coffee is hot? Wait... I don't get it. It's HOT, hot? Yeah, we need help.

/end rant.

Fireworks and chicken wings

Hello friends,

I hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend. Nobody lost any figures? Good.

The wifie and I along with our friend Billy and her nephew spent the weekend in Orlando at Universal Studios. We once again stayed at the Royal Pacific hotel. Great hotel within walking distance to City Walk, Universal and Islands of Adventure and I highly recommend staying at least once.

Universal and Islands of Adventure was the same as always. However, they were doing test runs of the new rollercoaster the Rockit which looks INSANE! Good luck to those brave souls who will be losing their lunches climbing that completely VERTICAL incline.

One little note that I wanted to mention was that despite some rather bad service at one of the hotels’ restaurants which is in itself surprising; the teriyaki chicken wings were AWESOME! Good stuff. Not much to look at but oh so nummies.

Looking ahead here there’s not a great deal of stuff coming down the pipeline. I’m scrambling around trying to add more content and get some other projects done but it’s not progressing as fast and smoothly as I’d like. However, with the lack of stuff to talk about I guess I could focus more on what I have working and get that done and out of the way. *sigh* I feel like I have net-block.

See you around the next corner.

Hey folks,

Want to wish everyone a great 4th! The wifie and I will be spending it down in Orlando. I've set up SMS posting so I might even post something to test it out while I'm down there.

Snafu Comics

Yo!

Just want to pass along something that a friend clued me into last week. I've been reading it for the last several days. Now, I'm a fan of several web-comics and have been for many years... Penny Arcade, XKCD, and now my new favorite... Snafu Comics! Great stuff! Everyone must check it out. I'm loving the Powerpuff Girls and Grimm Tales. I even joined the forums. I have their feed down to the right or simply click the title above.

Yo friend-o-mites!

I'm still looking for more blogs to follow. I'm scouring the intertubes for fun and interesting things. If you come across anything that might be in the relm of art, comics, manga, anime, gadgets, cartoons or anything relevant please let me know! I want to read it!

Tidbits...

Hello friends.

Sorry for the late postings. Busy week.

First off, I want to say that my wife and I celebrated our two year anniversary on the 16th. We have a plan to go to St. Augustine but something always seems to pop up and postpone it. :( I love you Heather and thank you for the best years of my life. :)

I hope everyone is enjoying the the iPhone 3.0 update. I didn't have a smooth transition. Something messed iTunes up and I had a doo doo time getting everything back to normal. All is well now.

Should be back to normal next week. Might even be able to get some work done.

It is the end of the WORLD....of Warcraft...

Yes, an era has come to an end. As of last saturday I've terminated my World of Warcraft account. I don't have the time to play and thus can not justify the expense. I've already posted a message on my guilds forum giving them the bad news.

I enjoyed playing my human warlock. It was a real extension of my personality. Will I ever return to WoW? I don't know.

Good luck to the rest of Prestige. May you're loots be purple!

Futurama is back...

The Hollywood Reporter stated today that Comedy Central has ordered 26 episodes of the once cancelled Fox show by Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. The series is returning sometime in mid 2010.

You can view the whole story here.

YES! Great news! We bring back another one!

iPhone 3GS...

So, everyone all caught up on iPhone news? Good, I don't want to recap everything.

Basically, we have a new iPhone model. The 3GS. Faster, better camera, a few more features verses the 3G. A logical step in the evolution of the iPhone. All the announcements were within what it was speculated to be.

Of course, that means there's a bunch of people who are up in arms about the price. AT&T customers who are already in a contract won't get the subsidized price for the 3GS which is they way it should be. Sure, it sucks, but that's what you get.

My only gripe about the deal is that AT&T is really dropping the ball on the service. There are features that will not be up and running at launch because of AT&T's negligence. Plain and simple. If AT&T were smart they would get this fixed and fast.

I'm only six months into my contract so that means unless my iPhone breaks or something I won't be upgrading for another year and a half. Which, by then there is bound to be a newer iPhone model released. I'm patient. :)

WWDC...

Apple kicks off the 2009 WWDC tomorrow with the keynote speech starting at 1:00 EST. Showcasing more on the iPhone 3.0 software and quite possibly a new iphone model. You can check out the liveblogs at Engadget and Gizmodo. Both are great, but in the past it seems that Engadget gets the info up in the blog sooner. :P

I'll be watching from work and will have some views later on in the day.

Office-ing...

Even though the summer months are the busiest time at Team Jedi sometimes it doesn't seem so. So, while I was caught up on work I took some pictures.

Left monitor... nothing in PS... :(

Yes, that's my Initech mug and no you can't have it.

I know I had others but I either deleted them from my iPhone or... I didn't click the picture button. :P Ohwell, more soon.

Followers...

I'm new to this blogging thing. Although, I've been working to get some of the company's blogs up and running I've really not gotten into the whole "scene" of bloggging.

I started following a few blogs. Entertainment Earth is the first. Great store. I have a wishlist there a mile long. :) Also, a few friends are getting their own blogs and sites up. I should be adding them in the next few days. Followers are welcome! :) And if you think you write stuff that I would find interesting please drop me a line!

I know I don't have anything of great interest on my blog. I hope to change that... although... it may be some time before anything of value appears. In the meantime I'll just post my ramblings and hope something comes from them.

Tidbits...

Hello. Just some small rearrangements. I took down my MySpace link, well... really because I dislike MySpace more and more each day. I'd much rather just use Facebook to keep up-to-date on things. It's just easier. I've also put a link to my Mania profile. Why? Well, I like the site. Has a lot of stuff of interest and I'd like to be able to use it more. I've already put some review links down at the bottom so people can check some of their content out. Plus, they have contests with some nice prizes. Hopefully I'll be able to tell you all about how I won an awesome figure from them. :) So, yes... check them out.

Also, I've put a link to www.dannychoo.com. Another of my favorite sites. Great stuff on figures, Japan and otaku culture in general. Great stuff. Highly recommended. Who knows... if I can get my stuff together you may be seeing a dancing stormtrooper around G'ville. :)

Going to be doing some spring cleaning this weekend. I'm hoping to get the office cleaned up and better organized. I need shelving, but my wife wants to turn it into the babies room. Which... I can't argue with. Something about babies needing a room or something. Pfffft...

S.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Excellent...

Things are moving right along. I've got a few more links off stuff from some of my favorite sites that I'd like to share to the right. Please check those out.

Since last weekend was busy I didn't get to start on my own content. There's so much stuff I'd like to mention, but for now just this: The trailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic is out. I read about this a few months ago and really didn't pay it any attention. The article was about how they're really trying to re-invent MMO's and add all kinds of new elements and blah blah. Everyone is trying to bring out the next WoW-killer. You can check out the trailer Here. The cinematic looks fantastic and has me really looking forward to see what Bioware has in store for us as far as gameplay goes.

This will have to do for now. More soon.

30.

Yesterday was my 30th birthday. I wasn't sure what to expect. Work was normal. After work plans were to attend a graduation ceremony which was outside. Outside and Florida and May don't go together real well.
My wife told me that I wasn't going to get a cake and I believe her when she tells me things. Unless those things are lies. Which sometimes I can't tell... So, I got a cake. Which is a pretty cool cake.
They say 30 is the new 20. Sure, whatever you say bub.
I really can't reflect on things just yet. All the sayings and retoric everyone says about age and what you feel, how you feel it, are all true. I haven't discovered anything that gives me evidence otherwise.
Only thing I don't like getting older is the more birthdays you see...the less and less presents you receive. Just because I'm older doesn't mean I want less stuff!

Still unpacking...

Well, I've had some time to play around and make a few little additions. I think it's coming along nicely. I'll be adding more and more in the next couple of days. So, what can you expect from my blog? Well, for me its a place that I can keep stuff orgainized. I have stuff and accounts for stuff all over the web. You can see some to the right. Being the ubergeek-man-of-action that I am I've wanted to do something like this for a long time. I have so many interests and hobbies that sometimes I don't know what direction I'm headed. Well, thats going to change.

I'll be of course posting life-stuffs here. My wife Heather and I are on the verge of starting a family. I'm also gearing up my first venter into the world of the self-employed entrepreneur with my store. For now I'm calling it UberToy. Which is going to be... well, the best damn toy store you'll ever step foot into. A place for all your otaku needs from anime and manga to popular toys, collectables and just the weird stuff thats out there. I'm learning more and more everyday and hopefully I can get this off the ground.

I'm also going to voice my opinions on the world of tech, video games and whatever issues that I want to comment on. With my trusty iPhone at my side I hope to be able to keep content flowing. It should be fun.

So, thanks for stopping by. Keep a lookout for new stuff and drop me a line.

Untill next time.
